Twelve Preludes for Solo Piano (2015)
These Preludes are essays in a harmonic language I've been developing for some time. While composing them I focused completely on musical elements (particularly harmonic development), as opposed to my more philosophical works such as Synchromy or Genesis. Focusing on creating a harmonic system has been refreshing and educational, and it has opened up a world of possibilities for my future works.
This work has yet to be premiered.
This recording was made in January 2015 in Great Falls, MT and December 2014 in New Orleans, LA. The first two preludes are performed by my grandmother Marjorie Kohler, the third by Rebecca Whitney, and all were mastered by my dad Rob Kohler.
